A seal for a door, partition or other movable or demountable structural element 10 comprises a flexible sealing strip 13 secured along both its longitudinal edges as to the sides of a channel 11, 12 in the bottom or sides of a door &c. and attached along its central intermediate portion to a rigid strip 18 by clamping strips 16, 17, the strip 18 being lifted or lowered_as desired by a dead centre mechanism operated by a lever 28 and this mechanism comprises a plurality of toggle linkages 19 pivoted at C to the strip 18 and at B to lever arm 20, the pivot C pivotally carrying one end of an arm 25 connected at its other end to one 'limb of a hinge element 26, pivoting about an axis 27. These toggle linkages are spaced apart along the width of the door and operated by lever 28 on shaft 21 jburnalled in bearings 22 attached to a frame member 23 of the door body. The sealing element 13 may be in two complementary parts.</p> |
