A ternary alloy capable of exhibiting a martensitic transition characteristic at a predetermined temperature has the formula JLx M1-1 where J is a metal of Group IVA of the Mendeleef Table and constitutes 50 atom % of the alloy, L and M are respectively two metals of Group VIII of the Mendeleef Table selected from the same period as the metal J and together make up the remaining 50 atom % of the alloy, and x is less than 1 but greater than 0. Among specified alloys are Ti(NiCo), Ti(FeCo), Zr(RhRu)2 and Zr(Pd Rh).</p> |
