In order to enable safe operation of a control device that blocks ignition and steering in a motor vehicle without the need for an ignition key, the invention provides for a switching element (1) that can only be placed in a position (5) in which the engine is disconnected and the steering is blocked when a force is exerted, in addition to a rotating movement, on said switching element (22) in the direction of the axis of rotation.
