The analysis system uses an organisation structure, e.g. provided by the operating manual, corresponding to the operation of the power plant, for linking each of the signal elements to a number of further signal elements. A data processor determines the degree of correlation between each 2 signal elements, to provide information elements (Ii(MEi)) which are positioned relative to one another with a relative spacing dependent on the degree of correlation.
