PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing modified cross-section yarn, having a modified cross-section shape, containing a large amount of titanium oxide, having a low coefficient of friction and no twill dropping at the end face of package, windable in an excellent winding appearance. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a modified cross-section yarn which comprises a thermoplastic polymer, contains 0.1-10.0 wt.% based on the whole yarn of titanium oxide fine particle, has three or more projected parts on a single fiber cross section and >=1.4 modification degree of single fiber by a direct spinning and drawing method, a spun yarn is cooled, provided with a spinning oil, F/Fμd of yarn before winding in a package is adjusted to >=2.8 and the yarn is wound in a package.
