PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel arm rests for a wheelchair which can be instantaneously housed in positions where they are not obstructive when they are unnecessary. SOLUTION: The arm rests 1 are constituted such that arm rest bodies 2 extending from a back rest (d) side of a wheelchair (b) is provided freely rotatably around a rotary shaft 3 in the back rest (d) side. In these arm rests, the rotary shaft 3 is positioned on the rear surface side of the back rest (d), and the rotary shaft 3 is slidably pivoted with the arm rest bodies 2 in the width direction of the back rest (d). Thus, the arm rests bodies 2 can be housed on the rear surface side of the back rest (d) of the wheelchair (b), and the arm rests 1 are not obstructive when they are unnecessary.
