PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material of rubber and polymethylpentene having excellent properties including heat resistance, thermal aging resistance, gas barrier properties, chemical resistance, oil resistance, non-tackiness, stain resistance, water resistance, insulating properties and abrasion resistance, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: An unvulcanized rubber is subjected to vulcanization/molding together with polymethylpentene, wherein the rubber is integrated with the polymethylpentene during the vulcanization/molding to form a composite material. The polymethylpentene is preferably supplied as a film.
