Disclosed herein is a recording medium for ink-jet, comprising a substrate composed of kenaf paper, and an ink-receiving layer provided on the substrate, wherein the ink-receiving layer comprises an alumina hydrate, a compound represented by the general formulawherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are, independently of one another, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, and X1- is an anion of a fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, astatide, sulfate, alkoxylsulfate, sulfite, phosphate, phosphite, perchlorate, perbromate, periodate or chlorate, and a compound represented by the general formulawherein R5, R6, R7 and R8 are, independently of one another, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group except that at least one of R5, R6, R7 and R8 is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or arylalkyl group, and X1- is an anion of a fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, astatide, sulfate, alkoxylsulfate, sulfite, phosphate, phosphite, perchlorate, perbromate, periodate or chlorate.
