A screw on container closure 30 has an indivisible body portion comprising threads 24, and includes ratchet formations 26 for co-operation with complementary formations (fig.2, 16) on a threaded container neck (10), which allow the closure to be screwed on to the neck but resist unscrewing. The closure 30 or associated container may comprise tamper indicating access means 34, such as a rupturable membrane or foil, that are broken or destroyed on opening and can include a tear open or tear out part. A reclosable cover may be provided for use after the access means 34 have been breached. The ratchet formation can comprise a ramp surface with adjacent facet that extends in a radial plane. The formations may be incorporated into the threads on the closure and neck, either recessed within a protruding part of the thread or protruding from a recessed part of the closure thread. The threads may be multi-start threads, with not all turns provided with a ratchet formation. The closure may comprise an anti-drip pouring lip and may have an exterior grip which comprises formations to make the closure slippy when attempting to unscrew it. |
