PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a flection of a disk when it is engaged/removed and to prevent the disk and data from being damaged. SOLUTION: An apparatus for holding a media storage disk comprises a base portion, at least two arms each resiliently cantilevered upwardly from the base portion and a disk locating means. The means consists of at least two portions, each of which includes a disk-engaging region. The two portions are articulated to each other about at least one articulation axis and each pivotally connected to a respective arm about a pivot axis, one for each portion and located on each side of the articulation axis. The two portions are movable in a manner that the articulation axis moves from one position above the pivot axis wherein the two portions are in a disk securing condition, to another position below the pivot axis wherein the two portions are in a disk releasing position.
