PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing (meth)acrylic acid with high purity while reducing the generation of a polymer generated when producing the compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing the (meth)acrylic acid is characterized by (a) a step for carrying out a catalytic vapor-phase oxidation reaction of at least one kind selected from the group consisting of propylene, propane, acrolein and the like, and a mixture thereof to provide a gas-phase reaction product including the (meth)acrylic acid, (b) a step for collecting the (meth) acrylic acid by using a solvent, (c) a step for separating the solvent, low boiling point impurities and high-boiling point impurities by extraction or distillation to provide the crude (meth)acrylic acid, and (d) a step for adding an aldehyde- treating agent to the crude (meth)acrylic acid, and distilling the obtained crude (meth)acrylic acid under a reduced pressure to provide the objective highly pure (meth)acrylic acid.
