PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for burning a coke dust at a coke dry-type fire-extinguishing apparatus which method permits a perfect combustion in a heat transfer medium used at the above same apparatus, of the whole amount of coke dust that is recovered at the coke dry-type fire-extinguishing apparatus. SOLUTION: The method, in which a coke dust is firstly recovered at a coke dry-type fire-extinguishing apparatus that carries out the fire-extinguishing of a red-hot coke by heat-exchanging it with at inert gas and the recovered coke dust is secondly again blown along with an oxygen-containing gas into a waste gas duct at the above apparatus to then be burnt, is characterized in that the above recovered coke dust is added and mixed with an ignition accelerator. The ignition accelerator used is preferably an oil.
