PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film composition for protecting a printed matter, which is excellent in resistance to water, setting properties, resistance to abrasion, and adhesion to a base material and resistance to light, a sheet for protecting a printed matter, and a protective method for the printed surface. SOLUTION: This film composition for protecting the printed matter comprising a silicone resin containing emulsion containing substantially no organic solvent obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a mixture including 100 pts.wt. of a singly water-insoluble silanol group-containing silicone resin, which is represented by average compositional formula: R1mR2nSi(OH)p (OX)qO(4-m-n-p-q)/2, wherein R1 is a 1 to 10C alkyl group, alkenyl group or aryl group, R2 is a 1 to 10C substituted alkyl group, alkenyl group or arlyl group, X is a 1 to 6C alkyl group, alkenyl group or aryl group and m, n, p and q are positive numbers satisfying the following inequalities: 0.50<=m<=1.80, 0<=n<=1.00, 0<p<=1.50, 0<=q<=0.50, 0.50<=m+n<=1.80 and 0<p+q<=1.50, and 10 to 1,000 pts.wt. of radical polymerizable vinyl monomer. |
