PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optically active oxazolidinedione compound having excellent blood sugar depressing action and blood lipid depressing action and useful as an agent for the prevention and treatment of diabetes, hyperlipemia, glucose tolerance insufficiency, inflammatory diseases, arteriosclerosis, etc. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to (R)-(+)-5-[3-[4-[(5-methyl-2- phenyl-4-thiazolyl)methoxy]phenyl]propyl]-2,4-oxazolidinedione or its salt and a method for producing (R)-(+)-5-[3-[4-[(5-methyl-2-phenyl-4-thiazolyl) methoxy]phenyl]propyl]-2,4-oxazolidinedione or its salt by the cyclization reaction of (R)-2-ethoxycarbonyloxy-5-[4-[(5-methyl-2-phenyl-4-thiazolyl) methoxy]phenyl]pentanamide or its salt. |
