<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new production method enabling the attainment of productivity augmentation by operation at a reactive hydrocarbon space velocity of >100 h-1. SOLUTION: A catalytic vapor phase oxidation process comprises the following steps: (A) providing an oxidation reactor containing plural contact tubes placed in a reactor shell, the inside of which is divided into at least two of first and second heat transfer zones, and a heat transfer medium passes through either of the zones; each of the contact tubes contains at least two oxidation catalysts which can jointly oxidize a reactive hydrocarbon into a product gas comprising (meth)acrylic acid; the contact tubes are packed with at least two oxidation catalysts mentioned above in such a way as to provide a peak-to-salt temperature sensitivity of <=9 deg.C; and (B) a reactant composition comprising at least one reactive hydrocarbon and oxygen is fed into the oxidation reactor at a reactive hydrocarbon space velocity of 135 h-1 to 300 h-1 in order to contact the reactant composition with the at least two oxidation catalysts to form the product gas comprising (meth)acrylic acid.</p> |
