A method for the production of a macrocyclic monomer ( for example, ethylene brassylate) comprises the following steps: treatment of a polymer (for example, polyethylene brassylate) with a supercritical fluid, under conditions which bring about a depolymerisation of the polymer to macrocyclic monomers, extraction of the macrocyclic monomer, with the supercritical fluid as extraction agent and separation of the supercritical fluid from the macrocyclic monomer. The extraction can be carried out continuously and/or simultaneous to the treatment of the polymer with the supercritical fluid. |
