PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dancer roll device capable of preventing the local wear of a sliding shaft. SOLUTION: The dancer roll device comprises a dancer roll 1 having a fixed roll 3 and a movable roll 4, a sliding shaft 5 for sliding the movable roll 4, and a control mechanism 8 for controlling the speed of a winder 21 in response to the position of the movable roll 4 on the sliding shaft 5 to set a neutral point A, where the travelling speed of a wire material 7 between a wire drawer 17 and the winder 19 is balanced, to be in position on the sliding shaft 5. The local wear of the sliding shaft 5 is prevented by changing the position of the neutral point A of the movable roll 4 on the sliding shaft 5 with the passage of time.
