PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-reversible viscosity-controlling material which may control the viscosity of an aqueous dispersion such as an aqueous coating, an aqueous ink, etc., or a dispersion containing a polar solvent other than water as a dispersion medium via temperature change when it is added to the dispersion. SOLUTION: The heat-reversible viscosity-controlling material is a polymer having a polyalkylene glycol group. The viscosity of a dispersion containing this polymer and water and/or a polar solvent other than water as the dispersion medium changes as the temperature changes.
