PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for processing wire electrode and a wire cut electric discharge machine capable of finely cutting or breaking and collecting used wire electrode without affecting the accuracy of the working surface of a workpiece. SOLUTION: When a used wire electrode 8 becomes loose and comes in contact with a guide pipe 72a, a drive gear 71a, a driven gear 71b, and a guide pipe 72a come into conductive state to each other. As a result, the voltage of a detection power 72d is supplied to an input terminal 73b, and a control device 73 supplies a voltage from an output terminal 73a so as to cut off the used wire electrode 8. When the loosed amount of the used wire electrode 8 is lowered gradually, the used wire electrode 8 is separated from the guide pipe 72a, and the gears 71a and 71b come into the state of being insulated from the guide pipe 72a. As a result, a voltage supplied to the input terminal 73b becomes zero, and the control device 73 stops the driving of the motor 71c.
