A method and apparatus to obtain housing orders permits a customer to select from a wide variety of design plans based on their specific desires and requirement s. The provision of a wider selection of designs based on specific criteria increases the potential for obtaining a greater number of orders. The method includes a step of using an internet ho me page to publish conditions necessary for the housing design that include at least th e desired conditions of a customer and regulated construction requirements. Another step permits solicitation of design plans satisfying the published conditions from a plurality of unspecified persons. A further step permits selection of at least one design plan for a customer fr om among a plurality of design plans. A contract for a housing order can be concluded with the customer based on a selected design plan.
