PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing 1,3-dihalogeno-1,1,3,3-tetra(organyl) disiloxane, capable of producing the product simply and especially economically. SOLUTION: This method of producing 1,3-dihalogeno-1,1,3,3-tetra(organyl) disiloxane comprises reacting a hydrogen halide with a 1,3-dihydro-1,1,3,3-tetra(organyl)disiloxane expressed by the general formula (2): HR2Si-O-SiR2H (R is a 1-20C hydrocabron residue which may be substituted by fluorine or chlorine, and may be the same to or different from the others; and X is a halogen, and may be the same to or different from the other) in the presence of a catalyst selected from a group comprising transition metals of subgroup VIII, compounds of transition metals of subgroup VIII, and complexes of transition metals of subgroup VIII to form the 1,3-dihalogeno-1,1,3,3-tetra(organyl)disiloxane expressed by the general formula (1): XR2Si-O-SiR2X.
