PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having superior rolling resistance. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire having a pair of right and left bead portions, a pair of sidewall rubber portions ranging over the bead portions, respectively, and a tread rubber portion bridged between the sidewall portions comprises a carcass layer embedded in these rubbers and bridged between the bead portions and a belt reinforcing layer embedded in the tread rubber, the tread rubber layer consisting of two layers, an inner layer and a surface layer, the surface layer being incorporated with 1-10 PHR short fibers having a melting point of 130-170 degrees C and a 0.5-5 PHR naphthoic acid hydrazide compound for improved rolling resistance.
