PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cleaner and its washing method, capable of regenerating the adsorption capacity of activated carbon filter material and removing precipitated salts causing the clogging of the activated carbon filter material, thereby making it possible to prolong the exchange interval of the activated carbon filter material. SOLUTION: This water cleaner is provided with water passages 4, 32 for washing, which, when a carbon filter material 14 is washed, allows hot water to flow opposite to the direction of tap water flow in the case of washing activated carbon filter material 14, thereby the hot water is made to flow into the activated carbon filter material 14 from the downstream side to the upstream side of the tap water flow in the case of washing. As a result, adsorbed substances including acidic components such as hydrochloric acid are desorbed from the activated carbon filter material 14, and the desorbed substances together with the hot water moves in the activated carbon filter material 14 from the downstream side to the upstream side 14a of the activated carbon filter material 14, on which the precipitated salts are caught. The surfaces of the precipitated salts are dissolved by the acidic components such as hydrochloric acid to be desorbed from the activated carbon filter material 14.
