Gases to be scrubbed are sprayed with liquid by sprays 21 centrally disposed within a circular casing and then drawn through circumferentially spaced passages 16 of venturishape, the liquid and gas being separated centrifugally in the space surrounding the vanes 15 defining passages 16. The vanes may be adjustable and the assembly of vanes may be arranged to rotate during use. Preferably the gases to be scrubbed are given a rotary motion before entering the passages 16. |
