SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENCODING BINARY FORM SIGNAL

PURPOSE: A system and a method for encoding a binary form signal are provided to arithmetic-encode a binary form signal in unit of one pixel or in unit of predetermined PxP sub-block on the basis of the quantity of generation of bits after encoding. CONSTITUTION: When binary pixel values in a binary form signal extracted from a video frame are arithmetic-encoded, binary pixel values in a corresponding binary alpha block are encoded in unit of one pixel and in unit of PxP sub-block. The number of bits after the encoding is calculated. Encoded data having smaller number of bits is selected as final output data, thereby remarkably improving encoding efficiency of the binary form signal.
