PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing apparatus which makes possible to prevent a splash of lubricating oil at a bearing section and thus to prevent a deterioration of a shaft deflection and a reduction of service life of the bearing section. SOLUTION: In the bearing apparatus 1 wherein the bearing section 5 is relatively rotatably constructed by facing a shaft 2 against a bearing 3 with a lubricating oil 4 being interposed therebetween and rotating members are mounted on the inboard side of shaft 2 or the bearing 3, a lubricating oil retention members 7 is attached to an end 3a of the bearing 3 located on the side of centroid 8 of the entire constituent member on the inboard side and a internal circumferential surface 7a of the lubricating oil retention member 7 is configured to be larger than a inner diameter of the bearing 3 and yet is dimensioned to be suitable for the prevention of the splash of the oil due to a centrifugal force. Amount of the lubricating oil 4 to be retained by the internal circumferential surface 7a of the lubricating oil retention member 7 is desirable to be not less than 10 times of the amount of lubricating oil retained in the bearing section 5.
