PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting the cell of an asynchronous terminal, by which a message processing is smoothly performed even when an ANSI-41 network being a synchronizing core network is connected to an asynchronous radio network in an asynchronous mobile communication system consisting of the asynchronous terminal, the asynchronous radio network and a core network. SOLUTION: This method comprises a first step for storing information related to the core network, which is transmitted from an asynchronous radio network, in the memory of an asynchronous terminal or a user subscriber identity module (USIM) before the power-off of the asynchronous terminal, a second step for deciding the kind of the linked core network by analyzing core network divider information in the case of the power-on of the asynchronous terminal, a third step for proceeding to one of the cell procedure of a mobile communication global system (GSM) or that of an American National Standards Institute(ANSI), a fourth step for retrieving a cell suitable for providing a service in response to the kind of the linked core network and a fifth step for positioning and registering the retrieved cell.
