PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcomputer system whereby on a microcomputer equipped with one input terminal for external interruptions, processing time from the point of receiving an interruption request to executing the interruption program can be shortened, thus avoiding deterioration of overall efficiency of the program execution. SOLUTION: The microcomputer 100 is equipped with an input terminal 25 for an external interruption request signal and an interruption cause register 12 to identify a number of interruption causes. When the microcomputer 100 receives an external interruption request, the interruption cause register 12 receives interruption cause data from the peripheral function blocks 13-14 on the sending area, and based on that data the microcomputer identifies the peripheral function block of the interruption cause and starts interruption process corresponding to that peripheral function block.
