PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam separator which can reduce pressure losses while maintaining high steam separating performance. SOLUTION: In this multistage steam separator having a swirler 123 composed of a hub 124 and a plurality of swirl vanes 125 in a diffuser 122 connected to a stand pipe 121, the average angleθat the outlets of the vanes 125 and the ratio (d/D) of the diameter (d) of the hub 124 to that D of a first-stage inner pipe 126 are adjusted within prescribed ranges.
