PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low noise and low thermal demagnetization magnetic recording medium and to provide a high capacity magnetic storage device which enables high density recording at >20 Gb/inch2. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium with a recording film comprising at least one magnetic layer formed on the substrate by way of an under layer, the at least one magnetic layer comprises a cobalt-base alloy containing chromium and germanium as additive elements and further containing boron or phosphorus as a 3rd additive element.
