PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely estimate a bias estimate value at a setting control time related to head positioning method and device for positioning a head reading a disk storage medium to a prescribed position. SOLUTION: In a storage having a disk medium 6, the head 4, an actuator 3 and a control circuit 19, after coarse control not performing integral compensation or bias compensation is performed based on a detective position, the setting control is performed. The head position in a next sample is estimated, and a bias initial value is estimated from a difference between the detective position and the estimate position, and the setting control accompanied with the integral compensation or the bias compensation is performed by using the bias initial value. Since the bias initial value at a setting start time is estimated from a difference between the detective position in the control not performing the integral compensation or the bias compensation and the estimate position, even when different bias values are shown on the same target position, the bias initial value of the setting control is set precisely. Thus, since the time correcting bias deviation at the setting control time is shortened, the time required for the setting control is shortened remarkably.
