PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a hydraulic drive unit that is capable of high frequency response and can lock when a hydraulic cylinder is not driven. SOLUTION: When type adjustable speed motor 3A is exclusively driven the hydraulic fluid in a reservoir 1 is pressurized by a one-way rotation type hydraulic pump 2A and supplied to a left side pressure chamber of the hydraulic cylinder 6 via a check valve 4A, and then the fluid moves a piston to the right side. The hydraulic fluid in a right side pressure chamber is blocked from flowing into a one-way rotation type hydraulic pump 2B by a check valve 4B, and is returned to the reservoir 1 via a pilot check valve 5B.
