METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ACTUALIZING TRANSFER FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the costs of a device and a method which generate an output value in response to an input value and an image processing system which makes gamma correction. SOLUTION: Accrding to a given function, the output value in response to the input value is generated. An input part which extracts a table input value and an interpolator input value from the input value includes a section detector defining a plurality of input sections. The section detector generates a section index showing a section in which the input value is put. The input part includes an input value generator which generates the table input value and interpolator input values determined by the upper part and complementarily lower part of the input value varying with the section index as a function of the section index. A table generates a table value corresponding to the table input value. An interpolator generates an interpolation value corresponding to the interpolator input value. The output value puts the table value and interpolation value together so as to obtain an output value.
