PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid bearing cylinder device which a recording and reproduction motion remains normal maintaining a bearing function properly without leaking any lubricant in a thrust bearing to the outside even if the device receives impacts by dropping or the like. SOLUTION: In the fluid bearing cylinder device, it is characterize that an end play C2 between a lower surface of a flange 16 and an upper surface of a radial bearing portion of a turning cylinder 13 opposed to the lower surface of the flange 16 is greater than an end play A2 between an upper surface of an external periphery of the turning cylinder 13 and an lower surface of an external periphery of the second fixed cylinder 19 and an end play B2 between a lower surface of a fixed transformer 20 and an upper surface of a turning transformer 18.
