PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a harmful influence caused by pulsation occurring in an intake passage and to prevent dwell of lubricating oil in the intake passage, in a rotary compressor having a plurality of compression spaces in a cylinder. SOLUTION: A common muffler chamber 50 is arranged among an intake port 28 of the compression space 26, an intake port 30 of the compression space 27, and an intake piping system outside the compressor. Connecting pipes 64, 65 connect the intake ports 28, 30 and the muffler chamber 50. Opening ends of the connecting pipes 64, 65 to the muffler chamber 50 are respectively opposite to and close to a bottom wall face of the muffler chamber 50. Therefore, pressure pulsation occurring in each passage of the intake ports is reduced without propagating the pressure pulsation to the intake piping system outside the compressor, and the dwell of the lubricating oil in the muffler chamber is prevented.
