PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming a shed capable of reducing the size of a track (a surface area occupied by one selection mechanism), increasing the number of the selection mechanisms per unit surface area, performing even the packaging of the apparatus as desired and leading warp weaving yarns to two or three points. SOLUTION: This apparatus for forming the shed is equipped with many combinations of the two selection mechanisms (3, 6 and 7) and (5, 8 and 9) having selection elements 3 and 5 overlapped in the top and the bottom and the respective selection mechanisms (3, 6 and 7) and (5, 8 and 9) can vertically be moved with pulling up means 13 and 14 which can be selected with the selection elements 3 and 5. The respective selection mechanisms (3, 6 and 7) and (5, 8 and 9) comprise two cooperating hooks 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 and the use of the selection elements 3 and 5 can be simplified by mutually and separately making the hooks 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 of the different selection mechanisms of one combination perform vertical motion.
