MULTI-LEVEL VIDEO SIGNAL GENERATOR

PURPOSE: A multi-level video signal generator is provided to convert effective data pixels into predetermined data in accordance with predetermined tables and generate synchronous signals of bi-level or tri-level to transfer the two kinds of signals together when synchronous signals are carried in decoded video data to be applied to a display device. CONSTITUTION: A look-up table(20) converts effective data pixel sections of decoded video data in accordance with tables for respective components. A mapper(30) converts the outputs of the look-up table(20) into values within range limited by tables of predetermined standard. A synchronous section data converter(40) converts the synchronous sections of the decoded video data into synchronous signals having predetermined level in accordance with the tables of predetermined standard. A multiplexor(50) selectively outputs the outputs of the mapper(30) and the synchronous section data converter(40).
