PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fusion splicing method and its device for optical fiber preventing a defective fusion splicing by directly clamping an optical fiber of a loose fiber with a coat clamp and surely thrusting it. SOLUTION: The optical fiber is exposed by cutting a tube 3 with respect to a loose tube fiber 1. Successively, the tip end of the tube is butted against the difference in level of a coat removing device to position the fiber, a coat 4 of a prescribed length is left at the root part of the optical fiber and the coat of the optical fiber is removed. The worked loose tube fiber 1 is placed on the chuck stage 26 of a fusion machine, a clamp chassis 27 is lowered, and the coat 4 of the optical fiber and the tube 3 are respectively pressed by the projecting part 24a of the coat clamp 24 and the non-projecting part 24b of the same to clamp the loose fiber. |
