PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing support apparatus which makes possible to attempt to extent a service life of a bearing to be use and to improve machine tool accuracy without any alteration of the specification and without setting up any particular mechanism on a main shaft, even when the bearing is applied to the machine tool. SOLUTION: The bearing support apparatus to support the rolling bearing 1 comprises a fixed ring 2, a rotating ring 3 and rolling elements 4 interposed rollably between both of the rings, and further comprises a fixed ring holding device (housing) 5 which holds the fixed ring 2 and has a cooling device for cooling thereof as may required, cooling means (air cooling type cooling device) 10 for cooling the rotation ring 3 mounted on a revolving shaft 6 and temperature control means to control a injection of cooling air from air cooling type cooling device 10 in such a way that temperature of the rotating ring 3 and the fixed ring 2 are detected and the temperature differential therebetween is maintained within the range of +50 deg.C to -50 deg.C. Accordingly, degradation of the bearing lubricant is restrained to extent the bearing life and thermal expansion of the main shaft is restrained to improve the machining accuracy of the machine tool.
