PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome a problem such that if the number of heads and the number of sectors per track are not determined previously between a conventional adaptor for a storage device and the storage device, the number of heads and the number of sectors per track in a memory area of the storage device may differ from those of the storage device, so that normal access to the storage device from the adaptor in CHS mode is precluded. SOLUTION: This adaptor for the storage device comprises a file format detection means to decide whether the file format of a data stored in the memory area of the storage device is present, and a function such that when the file format can not be identified and information of the number of heads and the number of sectors per track can not be acquired from the storage device, the number of heads and the number of sectors per track can be calculated and stored, thereby solving the problem. |
