PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay elevation engineering method for a steel tower and elevation guide mechanism wherein many of difficult points in conventional engineering method such as difficulty in securing a site, a large amount of expense, and delay of construction period and the like for construction of temporary tower pillar and spanning of support wire are almost solved. SOLUTION: A lifting device D of a tower main body part B is provided in the space within an existing steel tower 100, a tower relay part C is added to the upper end of a tower base A, a lift guide mechanism E for the tower main body part B is assembled between corner pillars 1 and 2 between tower relay part C and the tower main body part B, the tower main body part B is cut off the tower base part A before the tower main body part B is lifted by the amount equal to the height of the tower relay part C, and the lifted tower main body part B is connected to the upper end of the tower relay part C. The guide mechanism E allows a guide roller fitted to the tip of a guide arm protruding from each corner pillar 1 of the tower main body part B to slide and contact to a guide rail 13 detachably fitted to the corner pillar 2 of the tower relay part C.
