PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shift controller for a continuously variable transmission, capable of reducing the shifting shock produced when the control configuration is switched in controlling a gear ration, and expanding a feedback control region by allowing the continuously variable transmission to grasp an inherent gear ratio limit value. SOLUTION: In controlling a gear shift to allow a parameter value representing an actual gear ratio to be agreed with a target value, an estimating means 57A estimates whether a gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission is within a mechanically controllable gear ratio limit value or not, and a learning correcting means 57B learns and corrects the gear ratio limit value on the basis of the estimation, to recognize the gear ratio limit value.
