PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling apparatus wherein a compressor does not suffer a breakdown due to a lubrication oil shortage in a compressor, even when a lubrication oil less compatible with a refrigerant is used. SOLUTION: The cooling apparatus is provided with a means 71 for detection of data having influence on the quantity of a lubricating oil in a compressor 1, and a judgement means 70 for making a judgement on the basis of a value detected by the means 71 whether the compressor 1 has a want of the lubricating oil or not. When the judgement means 70 has judged that the compressor 1 has a want of lubrication oil, a flow control of the refrigerant in the cooling circuit is carried out.
