PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disc inspecting instrument which accomplishes an inspection to determine whether the width and depth of a track groove of an inspection disc meet an allowable range or not based on the results obtained from the detection of primary to higher order diffraction light by a photo detector as generated when the inspection disc is irradiated with an inspection laser. SOLUTION: An inspecting instrument 1a performs an inspection to determine whether the width P1 and the depth D of a track groove 6 in an optical disc 2 having a side 2b with the groove 6 formed at a pitch P are within an allowable range or not and is provided with an irradiation means 4, a photo detector 7, a transfer means, a judging means and control means.
