<p>Fuel supply to the system 32 is controlled by electrically adjusting a throttle valve 4 for high-pressure pump (5, Fig 1), by adjusting the pump itself and/or by adjusting a low-pressure feed pump (2). Control signal V for these devices is derived in regulating block 31 from engine speed N and fuel amount MF which is based on driver demand, eg accelerator pedal travel. Corrections and limitations are applied based on sensed actual fuel pressure FUP, leakages 41, coolant temperature TCO, battery voltage VB, desired fuel pressure FUPS and overloading current 52. Control of pressure regulating valve 6 which releases fuel pressure in the rail to the fuel tank can also be implemented based on actual and desired rail pressures FUP, FUPS and engine speed N in block 30. Limitations due to temperature TCO battery voltage and engine state ES can be applied here too. Desired pressure FUPS is calculated from N, TCO and MF by unit 56.</p> |
