PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device with a lens whose moving distance is accurately controlled, and to provide a driving method for driving a lens part. SOLUTION: The image pickup device with the movable lens part, is provided with a zoom drive part 42 for moving a photographic lens part 22 between a collapsing position 302 and a photographing area 324, and a zoom control part 238 for controlling the zoom-driving part 42 so that the photographing lens part 22 may be moved by the zoom-driving part 42 at high speed in the case the photographing lens part 22 is moved from one of the collapsing position 302 and the photographing area 324 to the other, and controlling the zoom drive part 42 so that the moving speed of the photographing lens part 22 may be reduced when the photographing lens part 22 reaches a reduction position arranged between the position 302 and the area 324.
