PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely execute a transfer to the slip control for coast traveling even though the slip control immediately therebefore is unstable in the transfer from a drive traveling to the coast traveling. SOLUTION: When a slip control region is judged in 31, 32, whether the coast traveling drive traveling is judged in 33. In the drive traveling, the slip control for the normal drive traveling is executed in 36, whether the slip control is stable or not is judged in 37, and a command value of a lock up clutch fastening pressure during the control is stored. In the case the coast traveling is judged in 35, the drive traveling is transferred to the coast traveling in 39 as the first transferring, 'during a time-limit' is judged in 44 after the slip control for drive traveling immediately therebefore is judged to be unstable on the basis of a result of the judgment of the step 37 in 40, and the final fastening pressure of the slip control for drive traveling immediately therebefore is held in 42 so far as the unstable slip of a torque converter is judged in 45. This holding condition is kept until the stable slip condition is judged in 45 or the passage of the time-limit is judged in 44, and a step 41 is executed when one of these conditions 1 is achieved to start the slip control for coast traveling.
