TELEPHONE HAVING SOUND/CHARACTER CONVERT AND CHARACTER DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE: A telephone having a sound/character convert and character display device is provided to visually distinguish aurally indistinct sound signal on telephone call by converting sound signal of an actual caller to a character format. CONSTITUTION: A sound inputting part(210) is inputted analog data and converts the analog data to digital data. A sound signal dividing part(230) divides the digital sound signal by unit time. A sound signal multiplying part(220) converts the divided sound signal to high frequency component. A frequency compressing part(240) encodes the converted high frequency and makes compressed data. A special frequency memory(260) stores special frequencies corresponding to each character. A frequency comparator(250) compares the compressed data with the special frequencies and finds an identical frequency component. An error compensating part(270) compensates an error between the frequency component corresponding to sound signal generated from the frequency comparator(250) and the special frequency corresponding to each character previously stored. A character converting part(280) converts the frequency outputted from the error compensating part(270) to a character.
