PURPOSE: A fuel injection method is provided to optimize a gasoline engine directly injecting fuel into a cylinder by controlling fuel injection timing without changing the shape of a piston and a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: A fuel injection method for a gasoline engine directly injecting fuel into a cylinder includes the steps of: determining a fuel injection amount and fuel injection timing according to operating information(S1,S2,S3); injecting first fuel into the cylinder by opening an injector for a predetermined time when the position of maximum speed of swirl passes the injector(S4); and injecting second fuel into the cylinder by opening the injector for a predetermined time after the position of maximum speed of swirl passes the injector(S5).
