Apparatus for reducing the nitrogen oxide (NOx) and dinitrogen monoxide (N2O) content of process and exhaust gases has bed(s) containing a catalyst based on zeolite(s) charged with iron, 2 reaction zones, the first, (I), for decomposing N2O and the second, (II), for reducing NOx, and a unit for introducing ammonia (NH3) gas between zones I and II. An independent claim is also included for the process for reducing the NOx and N2O content of process and exhaust gases.
